This
is an excellent 3rd finger exercise for the left hand. This can be played
on any string at any fret.
Place the 1st & 2nd fingers at the 5th and 6th frets on the 1st
string (A & Bb).
With these in place, play the 3rd and 4th fingers alternately (b &
c).
When the 4th is down the 3rd must be raised. Remember 1st & 2nd
fingers are kept in their respective frets all the time.
The exercise can be varied by alternating 2nd & 3rd and keeping
the 1st down.
Right hand pattern =i/m a/m i/a i/m/a
This exercise will improve the articulation of 2nd & 3rd, 3rd &
4th combinations
The common problem of the third finger is caused by it sharing the same
tendon as the 2nd finger. Practise this as a warm up and as an exercise
in its own right.
